Looking forward to Houston Dash 2023
By Louis Roesch
The new year is here and nearly just as soon it will be time to start of the 2023 NWSL season. Expectations are high for the upcoming campaign. Here are three reasons to be excited.
The Houston Dash are more than just fashionabe to watch. They bring the excitement to the experience and not the other way around. The Dash are an offense oriented team that has found a way to consistently put the ball in the back of the net. Along with their offense they have a defense that is second to none. They are beginning to prove they belong in the championship conversation every year.
The Houston Dash braintrust has made smart moves although sometimes questionable. They have brought in the right coaches at the right time. In the midst of last year's tumult, they put Sarah Lowdon in charge and she proved more than capable. Not only was she a stabilizing force but she created the best defensive team in the NWSL through her tenure and a franchise record setting road side. All this without ever having been a head coach at any level. Right person, right time. This is just one example of many.
One more reason to be excited about the Houston Dash is their leadership. It's not just the leadership in the front office but it translates all the way to the pitch. The leadership does their hoework. They know the right buttons whether its player on player or coaches to player or front office to coaching staff. They are all on the same page. It took awhile to get there but they have and now the fruits of the labor are paying off.
Outside of the Houston Astros, the Houston Dash are the team to watch in 2023. They are solid from top t bottom. They don't get to hight or to low qith wins and losses. They have a confidence that they can excel and then they put in the work from the front office to the pitch. This team will win its first NWSL title in 2023.
