First it was former team captain and team anchor on the backline Tim Parker being traded to St Louis City FC for cash and now defender Adam Lundkvist has been sent packing to in-state rival Austin FC for even more cash.

With the move, Austin FC gets better on the backline while the Houston Dynamo line their coffers with $500,000 in General Allocation Money. The money is split with Houston $300,000 in 2023 and $200,000 in 2024. It's another move that spells rebuilding with youth and aging veterans.

Lundvkist spent five seasons in Houston averaging 22 games a season. This followed 145 appearances in his native Sweden playing IF Elfsborg where in 2014 he was part of a Swedish Cup winning side. He also represented Sweden in a couple friendlies in 2016 with the senior side where he recorded an assist against Finland.

Houston now adds left back to its needs and has turned what was a strength of the team into a work in progress as Teenage Hadebe is the only one currently left from last season's backline regulars.
