The Houston Dynamo on Thursday announced the signing of veteran free agent defender Franco Escobar. Escobar's signing brings a winning addition to the backline.

Houston, includng Escobar's signing, have intentionally sought players who have won with previous clubs. The 27 year old's signing may be the best of them all considering Houston rid themselves of virtually every backline starter from 2022.

Escobar, since signing in 2018 with Atlanta United FC has played for a winner at every stop. He was been a part of two MLS Cup Champions, Campeones Cup Champion, Supporters Shield, and a US Open Cup winner.

The Argentinian international will be in a position to once again settle in as a starter. With LAFC, he appeared in 20 matches rebounding nicely from a foot injury that caused him to miss 17 games while out on loan in 2021. A proven commodity at 27, Escobar is a key piece to solidifying the Houston backline. There was no doubt that the Black and Gold had wanted to keep him so kudos to general manager Pat Onstad for getting his name on the dotted line in Houston.
