Houston Dynamo defender Tim Parker named to MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week

Houston dynamo defender Tim Parker became the eighth member of the Houston Dynamo named to this select group of players each week by Major League soccer. This is the first time Parker has been named as a member of the Houston Dynamo.

The 29 year old center back joined Houston in January of 2021 and reach a contract extension with them last June. Now in his eighth MLS season, Parker has become the linchpin of the Houston defense after anchoring the New York red Bull backline for six seasons.

Parker has logged 17 appearances with 15 starts for Houston in 2022. The ironman defender has logged 90 plus minutes in 14 of his 15 starts. Until the arrival of Hector Herrera, he had worn the captain's armband on a consistent basis.

Sunday night's defensive heroics by Parker saved the match for Houston. Jeremy Ebobisse's shot appeared to be headed for the back of the net before Parker slid across the front of the goal to clear it away in the 75th minute. Forward Thor Uhlfarrson scored the game winner for Houston in the 76th minute.

Three mainstays of the Houston defensive line cluding Parker have now earned Team of the Week honors 2022. Adam Lundvkist earned his for a key goal line clearance in June and Teenage Hadebe secured his in the recent FC Dallas Texas Derby match. Other Dynamo players named the the MLS Team of the Week in 2022 include goalkeeper Steve Clark, forwards Fafa Picault and Sebastian Ferreria (twice) and midfielder Coco Carrasquilla.

Houston returns home to PNC Stadium after a 1-1 road trip. They face Eastern Division foe MUNFC on Saturday, July 23rd. Kick-off is slated for 7:30pm CT.
