Houston Dynamo acquire Brazilian midfielder in a trade
Houston Dynamo has added to their midfield ranks by acquiring Brazilian midfielder Artur from the Columbus Crew for the new season.
After looking for new midfield talent this off-season, Houston Dynamo has found a proven match-winner in Artur. At 26 years of age, Artur has cemented his spot in the Columbus Crew midfield, since joining them in 2017 from Sao Paulo. Playing as a central defensive midfielder, he is crucial in the middle of the pitch. His passing is superb and can intercept the ball from the opposition with ease.
He joins the Dynamo having played 138 games for Columbus over the past six seasons. During his tenure with Columbus, he led them to win the 2020 MLS Cup, and the 2021 Campeones Cup and scored the match-winning goal in the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals.
Houston claimed Artur after exchanging a trade with the Columbus Crew. While the Dynamo will receive the rights to Artur, Columbus will receive $300,000 in general allocation money over the next two years.
After the trade was completed, Pat Onstad, the general manager of Houston Dynamo had some kind words to say about his new recruit.
"Artur is a proven winner in our league, a true competitor and a leader in the locker room," Onstad said.
"We talked about bringing in winners this offseason and Artur embodies this mentality. He will be a unifying presence in the locker room and will add a more physical element to our central midfield next season."
"I am excited to work with Artur again and welcome him and his family to the city of Houston."
