Ebony Salmon scored again and the Houston Dash extended their unbeaten streak to five games under interim head coach Juan Carlos Amoros late Wednesday night. The 2-1 win pushed Houston into a first place tie above the NWSL table.

Salmon's seventh goal of the season since arriving in Houston in late June broke a scoreless game in the 74th and set off a wild flurry of events. Defender Ryan Gareis who has seen her playing time increase under Amoros began Salmon's goal as she won a 50-50 ball outside, pushed it ahead to Sanchez whose cross found Salmon and the Dash led one nil.

Three minutes later, Marissa Viggiano found the back of the net for the first time this season to double the Houston advantage.

Former Dynamo midfielder Kristi Mewis connected with McCall Zerboni on a free kick from 25 yards out to ruin the clean sheet and close out a three goal match in a span of six minutes.

Houston played up a man for the second time in as many games only this time they found a way to win. The dash scored 16 minutes after gaining the advantage and never looked back.

The Dash go the road for an all important match in San DIego on Saturday night August 20th against the Wave FC. San Diego sits just three points back of Houston and Portland. The Dash have an opportunity to move into first place all alone in the season. it would be another first for the franchise. Kick-off is slated for 9:00pm CT.
