Houston Dash lose another to season ending injury

The Houston Dash announced loss of Makamae Gomera Stevens to a torn ACL. With this announcement, Houston has now lost three players in less then a month to season ending injuries.

Midfielder Makamae Gomera-Stevens, has had limited playing time in her second season with the Houston Dash. Although, she had seen action all six Challenge Cup game in 2022, her regular season playing time had been limited. She had her longest stint of the season playing 23 minutes in the loss to Orlando on July 8th. Number 26 will undergo surgery later in July and rehab with the team'smedical staff in Houston.

Defender Annika Schmidt saw preseason action in Houston's Mexico City match back on March 3rd, 2022 where she headed home a free kick from forward Maria Sanchez. It was only goal of the game in Houston's 1-0 win over Pumas. Schmidt's loss was announced by the Dash on June 22nd followingsuccessful ACL surgery.

Midfielder Kelcie Hedge also underwent successful ACL surgery in June and is rehabbing with the team's medical staff in Houston. The 24 year old played in three matches for the Dash in 2022 before suffering the injury in a 1-1 draw with the North Carolina Courage on May 29th. In addition to those three matches, Hedge had shown in all six 2022 Challenge Cup games. Houston is unbeaten in the three regularseason games in which she appeared.

All three are expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the 2023 season.
