In recent years, more and more players have been finding a home in Houston. Defender Katie Naughton is the latest Houston Dash player to be signed to a long term extension. The Dash continue to build for the future while ensuring present day success. Naughton's signing was announced barely three hours ago.

Naughton arrived via the trade route on January 6, 2020. The defender was traded for former Dash captain Kealia Ohai (Watt). Houston found a centerback who would galvanize their backline into one of the best in the business. This season alone, she has played every minute of every match, helped lead the team to four clean sheets and has a team leading 11 blocked shots and 51 duels won.

Her impact was felt almost from the moment she arrived. Following the 2021 campaign, she was named the team's defender of the Year and the Player's Player of the Year. This year the Dash co-captain is second in the league in clearances with 78,

“The opportunity to play in the city of Houston for another three years is an honor,” Naughton said. “From the moment I came to the Dash, I was welcomed with open arms and fully embraced by the community. There is nowhere else I would rather be, and I cannot wait to see what this team will accomplish this year and those thereafter. The ceiling for this club is high, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that growth. Houston, I’m staying, y’all!”
