The Portland Thorns have always been a pain in the side of the Houston Dash. Saturday's 2-0 win should help a little in easing the pain. Rachel Daly scored her 40th goal across all competitions to spark the win.

Daly's goal at the end of first half stoppage was the impetus Houston needed going into and coming out of the halftime locker room. It was a perfect counter as defender Ally Prissock found Nichelle Prince and the Canadian international's pass set Daly free.

Houston doubled the score just past the hour mark as Prince found fellow Canadian Sophie Schmidt inside the box. The Houston midfielder did the rest.

The Houston win was just their fourth all-time against Portland and snapped a seven game Thorns unbeaten streak dating back to 2021. Portland outshot Houston 17-15 but were unable to finish their most dangerous opportunities. One came in the 16th minute that Katie Naughton cleared off the Dash goal line and another that rattled off the crossbar in the 58th minute.

Houston (2-1-1, 7 points) returns home after one of the more successful road trips in team history. The Dash won twice and pick up a draw in three road matches. The win moved them into the fourth spot in the NWSL standings.

The Dash close out May with a Sunday night match on May 29th against the NC Courage, Kick-off is set for 7pm CDT.
