Dynamo Dos lose third in a row 2-1 in Portland
By Louis Roesch
The Dynamo Dos have experienced a tough go of it lately dropping their third straigh match. The 2-1 loss came late on Sunday night to the Portland Timbers 2. It was game, Houston should've, could've but didn't win.
Papa N'Doye to whom the Dos look to for scoring came through converting a penalty kick in the 15th minute of play. Houston had a couple of chances just moments before the PK conversion but Talen Maples header went wide off a corner and Marcelo Palomino forced a save from close range.
The Dos had a couple of chances with Kyle Edwards clanging one off the crossbar in the 72nd minute and N'Doye being stopped mments later. Dynamo 2 head coach Kevin Bundy said those were game changers.
"Kyle (Edwards) hits the crossbar, Papa (N'Doye) has a cross that gets saved, great saved by the goalkeeper. Those are moments to change the game. I think if we go two-nil, the game is completely different. Credit to them, they kept it at one-nil."
Portland 2 eventually found the equalizer. Dawson McCartney drew his teamlevel banging one home in the 80th but just when the Dos thought they would be going to PK's Zac McGraw headed home the game winner in the third minute of stoppage time.
"It was a tough trip overall, getting in late last night, playing a very good Portland team. Arguably the best team Portland's put on the field this season, which is great. That's what we want, we want to play the best and talking to their coach prior to the game, it is exciting that we're putting these teams out. Obviously, that's what we want. That's what the boys want. That's what the staff wants, to play the best players from every club. So going into the game, we knew it was going to be tough."
Dynamo 2 returns to Houston on June 26th for a home game at AVEVA Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7pm CDT against the Tacoma Defiance.
